As spring unfurls its magic, the city is about to be adorned with the stunning spectacle of cherry blossoms. It's that time of the year when London transforms into a canvas of pink hues, and we're here to guide you to the best spots to soak in this floral extravaganza.
According to Japanese snack brand Kelly Loves, London is home to an impressive 38,530 cherry blossom trees. These radiant pink trees are a sight to behold, and certain boroughs are particularly graced with their presence.
Among these boroughs, Harrow stands out with its 1,238 cherry blossom trees. This northwest London borough is a delightful destination for those seeking to capture the beauty of these picturesque trees. But the cherry blossom charm of London doesn't end here.
Redbridge, with its 11,564 trees, is the borough with the most cherry blossoms. Barnet follows with 5,577 trees, and Lewisham, with 3,462 trees, holds the third spot. Southwark and Greenwich are not far behind with 2,647 trees each. Enfield, Hillingdon, Haringey, Newham, Ealing, and Harrow also boast significant numbers of these beautiful trees, with 2,170, 1,608, 1,593, 1,495, 1,345, and 1,238 cherry blossom trees respectively.
Kelly Choi, the founder of Kelly Loves, emphasises that the cherry blossom season is not just about the visual feast it offers. For the over 32,000 Japanese residents in Greater London, it's a time to embrace the tradition of Hanami, or 'flower watching'. This season invites people to gather under the blossom trees to eat, drink, and socialise, creating a unique blend of nature and culture.
