Ah, the quintessential British Bank Holiday – a day typically marked by unpredictable weather, but never dampening the spirits of the resilient UK public. This year's May Day was no different. Despite the rain and thunderstorms, the people of Harrow proved their mettle, turning out in droves for the annual May Day at the Manor event, making it a resounding success.
As always, the event was a family affair, with a plethora of activities to keep the little ones entertained. From face painting to games and competitions, the children were spoilt for choice. But the fun wasn't limited to the kids. Adults too had their share of entertainment with live performances, arts and crafts stalls, and of course, a variety of food and drink outlets to indulge in.
Adding to the community spirit was the presence of the Friends of Headstone Manor Park. This dedicated group of Harrow residents has been committed since 2016 to promoting environmental improvements and practical conservation projects in the park, and their stall was a testament to their hard work.
But the excitement at Headstone Manor doesn't end with the May Day event. For the first time in half a century, cattle have been brought in to enhance the grassland and vegetation at the Manor. Visitors are welcome to observe these bovine guests from a safe distance, adding a unique touch to the park's charm.
Headstone Manor & Museum is more than just a venue. It's a community hub, a place where memories are made, and a testament to Harrow's rich history and vibrant community spirit. Whether you're attending an event, exploring the museum, or simply enjoying a picnic, it's a place that brings people together, regardless of the weather. So, here's to another successful May Day at the Manor, and many more to come!
