When searching for a home, you most likely have a list of features that you’re on the lookout for in order to narrow down the search and potentially find your dream home.
Separating your wants from your needs can really help speed up the process and deciding on what is most important to you can also help make the process much easier.
New information from Zoopla has looked into the most common search terms from prospective buyers, revealing a list of the top 10 features buyers are looking for.
The results of this research found that the number 1 most searched word when looking for a home was ‘Detached’ suggesting that the ideal scenario for most buyers is privacy and not having to worry about upsetting their neighbours.
Coming in at number 2 is ‘Garage’ which isn’t a huge surprise as it offers a little extra security for your car, but at the same time, you can never have enough room for storage.
‘Bungalow’ takes the number 3 spot as they come with both added convenience for buyers in their later years and provide the opportunity for some to make a profit from downsizing.
In 4th place is ‘Parking’ as a space to keep the car off the street is a must have for a lot of buyers so this is expected to rank quite high.
Just making it into the top 5 search words was the word ‘Annex’. While there are plenty of benefits to owning a home with a separate space for family or to let out, it will be surprising to some to see it rank so highly.
One word that isn’t a surprise to see amongst the most common searches is ‘Garden’ as reports last year found that almost half of prospective buyers wouldn’t even consider a home without one.
The number 7 most searched term was ‘Freehold’. While many would be happy to be to just be on the property ladder at all, owning the land outright is clearly the preferred choice.
